Disney Creatives Open Up in New Documentary Series
A new documentary series titled 'Disney Worldbuilders' will premiere on Disney+ on August 20. The film is directed by Leslie Iwerks and features candid conversations with top Disney creatives, including Bob Iger, James Cameron, and Jon Favreau.
The documentary explores the creative process behind some of Disney's most beloved stories, tracing how ideas come to life at their theme parks around the world. Iwerks' goal is to capture 'the imaginations of the storytellers behind some of the world's most beloved stories,' and she achieves this by having her subjects reflect on their childhood memories and creative breakthroughs.
The documentary also gives audiences a glimpse into upcoming lands at Disney destinations, showcasing one of the company's most ambitious periods of creative expansion. Iwerks is no stranger to Disney lore, as her grandfather Ub Iwerks was Walt Disney's original animator and co-creator of Mickey Mouse, while her father Don Iwerks was a camera technician and inventor at Walt Disney Studios.
