Chevron Bangladesh Launches Tree Guardianship Program in Habiganj and Moulvibazar
Chevron Bangladesh has launched an initiative to promote environmental stewardship in two districts of Bangladesh. The Tree Guardianship program aims to expand green cover and support families living near Chevron's operational areas.
Under this initiative, participating households will receive fruit-bearing tree saplings and take responsibility for planting, protecting, and maintaining them. Each household will be given 10 saplings, including varieties such as mango, black plum, jackfruit, lychee, guava, lemon, hog plum, custard apple, Indian gooseberry, jujube, and others.
A total of 3,190 tree saplings will be distributed under the program. The households were selected based on a field assessment considering available space and their ability to provide long-term care for the trees.
Chevron Bangladesh has partnered with Green Savers to implement this initiative. The program is designed to encourage community participation in environmental conservation, promote food security, household nutrition, and create potential supplementary income opportunities for participating families.
