Chevron Completes Acquisition of Hess Corporation
Hess Corporation's existence as an independent energy producer came to an end on July 18, 2025, when Chevron completed its acquisition of the company.
The deal transformed Hess into a portfolio within Chevron's global energy business, with Chevron issuing 301.25 million shares and assuming $8.8 billion in debt as part of the transaction.
The merger was centered around Hess' 30% interest in Guyana's Stabroek Block, a key offshore asset that contributed to the deal's value of $53 billion.
