Chevron Discovers Oil and Gas Offshore Angola
Chevron Corporation has announced an oil and gas condensate discovery at its 105-4X exploration well in Block 0, offshore Angola. The well was drilled in the Lower Congo Basin and encountered a column of oil and gas exceeding 600 meters in the Pinda reservoir, with more than 90 meters of net pay.
The discovery will be evaluated for potential development as a tie-back to existing facilities nearby. Chevron operates Block 0 through its subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited, which holds a 39.2% working interest. Sonangol E&P holds 41%, TotalEnergies 10%, and Azule Energy 9.8%.
Chevron has been expanding its exploration portfolio in the region over the past year. In Nigeria, the company farmed into two offshore blocks last year and was awarded a deepwater block in the country's latest bid round. Chevron currently produces around 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day net in Sub-Saharan Africa.
