Chevron is expanding its operations in Venezuela as part of a multibillion-dollar deal to increase oil production. The company plans to invest over $7 billion with Venezuelan joint-venture partners to double local oil production within five years, from the current 280,000 barrels per day (BPD) to 600,000 BPD.

The announcement follows an agreement between interim Venezuelan authorities and North American Blue Energy Partners. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent praised Chevron's involvement, saying 'No American firm knows how to operate in Venezuela better than Chevron.'

However, experts warn that ramping up production won't be immediate, as existing infrastructure limitations will need to be addressed.
