Chevron Executive Hits Roadblock in Venezuelan Oil Investment Plans
A Chevron executive who previously advocated for Delcy Rodríguez to lead Venezuela's government is now facing challenges in investing in the country's oil sector. Ali Moshiri, the former head of Chevron's operations in Venezuela and current chief executive of investment fund Amos Global Energy, has $2 billion ready to deploy in Venezuelan oil production and infrastructure projects.
Moshiri secured this funding from around 15 investors and is eager to move forward with his plans. However, he claims that PDVSA, the state-owned oil company, has been slow to respond to his proposals, stating 'There is no process, nor any sense of urgency.'
This comes as the Trump administration is pushing American companies to help revive Venezuela's energy sector. Moshiri is expected to travel to Caracas this weekend in an effort to arrange a meeting with PDVSA executives and facilitate his investment plans.
