Chevron is expanding its global gas portfolio in response to growing demand from buyers concerned about energy security due to the crisis in the Middle East, according to Global Gas president Freeman Shaheen. The company is pursuing new gas hubs in various regions, including Argentina and the Mediterranean.

Global gas markets have experienced two major disruptions in the past four years: the Ukraine war in 2022 and the Iran conflict this year, which cut off supplies from top producers Russia and Qatar, driving liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices higher.

Chevron's move aims to meet growing demand for energy security. Shaheen emphasizes that the company is looking to expand its global gas portfolio to provide more stable supply chains for buyers.
