Chevron Posts Biggest Profit in Years Amid Oil Price Surge
Chevron reported its strongest quarterly profit in years, driven by higher oil prices and improved refining margins. The energy giant's second-quarter net income soared to $12.07 billion, or $6.11 per share, a massive jump from the $2.49 billion, or $1.11 per share, recorded in the same period last year.
The company's revenue increased 57.4% to $70.56 billion, while adjusted earnings reached $11.97 billion, or $6.06 per share. Chevron's production also expanded during the quarter, with total output rising 20% from a year earlier to 4.07 million barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The company benefited across its operations, with U.S. upstream earnings climbing to $3.54 billion and international upstream earnings reaching $4.64 billion. Downstream earnings also improved, with U.S. and international operations generating $2.41 billion and $2.46 billion, respectively.
