Chevron Posts Record-Breaking Q2 Profit of $70 Billion Amid Global Energy Supply Disruptions
Chevron has reported its highest-ever quarterly profit of $70 billion for the second quarter of this year, exceeding analysts' estimates by nearly $10 billion. The company's adjusted earnings per share reached $6.06, beating market forecasts by 41 cents.
The record-breaking performance is largely due to the surge in crude oil and refined product prices triggered by energy supply disruptions caused by geopolitical conflicts. Chevron's global production grew 20% year over year to 4.07 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, with U.S. domestic production reaching an all-time high.
The company's refining segment performed strongly, with U.S. refineries operating at near-full capacity and fuel manufacturing profits surging to $2.4 billion, more than ten times the level of the previous quarter.
Chevron has also optimized its financial structure by reducing debt by a record $8.4 billion, which strengthens its ability to fund long-term investments and ensure energy supply reliability for decades to come.
