Chevron Reduces Gas Flaring by 98% in Nigeria
Chevron Nigeria Limited has made significant progress in reducing gas flaring to an impressive 98% over the past decade, according to its General Manager, Corporate Affairs. The company's goal is to promote environmental sustainability through cleaner energy production.
Olusoga explained that Chevron gathers and treats the gas before pushing it into the domestic market. He emphasized the importance of a cleaner oil industry for environmentally safe production.
The company has also been committed to Nigerian content development, spending one million dollars annually on this initiative. Chevron pioneered the Global Memorandum of Understanding (GMOU) in 2005, which aims to enhance participatory partnership models and give communities ownership of the development process.
