School Board Member Charged with Stealing Over $50K from Former Employer
Jennifer Rivera, a member of the Lower Merion School Board in Pennsylvania, has been charged with stealing over $50,000 from her former employer, SMB in Bala Cynwyd. According to prosecutors, Rivera used a company credit card for personal expenses, including a family vacation and clothing purchases.
The alleged theft occurred between 2018 and 2020, during which time Rivera spent $25,000 on a vacation for herself and friends, as well as $25,596.68 on clothing. She also booked a future trip to the Bahamas using $9,000 in American Express points from the company card.
Rivera was arrested on August 24 and released after posting $25,000 bail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for September 2. The charges against her include four counts of theft by deception, one count of receiving stolen property, and device fraud.
