Chevron Returns Support for Local Student-Athletes with Scholarships
The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation has announced its return of the Chevron Scholar Athlete of the Week program, now in its tenth year. This initiative aims to support local high school student-athletes in their pursuit of higher education.
Each week, beginning September 21st, one senior athlete from the 10-parish Greater New Orleans region will be selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship and recognition at a school assembly or event. The program is open to seniors graduating in May 2027 who have participated in high school sports for at least three years and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Chevron has been a long-term partner of the Sports Foundation, providing scholarships and recognition to outstanding student-athletes. According to Chevron Public Affairs Manager Jeremy Haken, 'investing in students is one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute to the local community.' The partnership aims to inspire the next generation of innovators and strengthen Louisiana's economy.
