Chevron Strikes Oil and Gas Condensate in Angolan Waters
Chevron has made another significant discovery in its long history of exploration in Angola. The energy major announced on August 17 that it had found oil and gas condensate at an exploration well in Block 0, offshore Angola.
The well in the Lower Congo Basin encountered a column exceeding 600 meters in the Pinda reservoir, including over 90 meters of net pay in high-quality rock. Chevron described the discovery as a major find, building on its successful exploration program in sub-Saharan Africa.
Chevron has been operating in Angola since the 1930s and holds an interest in two concessions, Block 0 and Block 14. The company is producing around 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the region.
