Chevron Strikes Oil in Offshore Angola Discovery
Chevron has announced an oil and gas condensate discovery at its 105-4X exploration well in Block 0, offshore Angola. The well is operated by Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chevron. This marks the beginning of a new phase of work for the company, as teams will now determine whether the find can be developed using nearby facilities.
The discovery comes after another recent milestone in the region, with the South N'dola Platform delivering first oil in December 2025. The Angola discovery is part of Chevron's broader exploration campaign across Sub-Saharan Africa, where it currently produces around 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day net.
Chevron's vice president of exploration, Kevin McLachlan, described the reservoir quality as 'excellent', with more than 2,000 feet of oil and gas condensate column encountered at the well. He added that every successful well adds information, confidence, and potential pathways for future growth.
