Chevron Surges Amid Oil Price Rally
Chevron's stock price surged by approximately 0.8% to $207.39 on Thursday, August 20, as Brent crude oil prices approached $93.81 per barrel.
The company's strong financials, including a record $12.1 billion in second-quarter earnings and a 20% increase in worldwide production, have contributed to its success during this rally.
Chevron has been able to take advantage of the current oil price gains, which have now lasted for five consecutive sessions, due to restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and stalled U.S.-Iran diplomacy.
The company's financial firepower is substantial, with $15.4 billion in adjusted free cash flow last quarter, but investors are no longer buying Chevron cheaply, as its stock trades near 20 times trailing earnings.
