Chevron Targets 2028 Decommissioning for Yam Tethys Gas Platform
Chevron plans to decommission the Yam Tethys gas platform off Israel's coast in 2028, but the timing and cost will be subject to agreements between partners in the Yam Tethys and offshore Tamar project.
The platform has been operating since 2004, receiving gas from the Mari B Field and later supplemented by gas from smaller fields tied back to Mari B. NewMed Energy, a co-venturer in the project, noted that hot commissioning tests on a newly laid subsea pipeline have finished, with gas now flowing through the new line.
A combined 2D/3D seismic survey over Israel's offshore Zone I licenses is set to begin this September, covering an area of about 7,100 sq km. The three-month survey has a total cost of around $22 million.
