Chevron to Kick Off Seismic Surveys in Greek Waters This Autumn
Chevron is set to begin seismic surveys in Greek waters before the end of 2026 as part of its efforts to identify potential hydrocarbon targets in its offshore concessions. According to Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou, Chevron will start work in November and December, with a specialized seismic vessel contracted by the company expected to arrive to acquire geophysical data.
The surveys are planned for Chevron's four offshore blocks: A2, South of Peloponnese, South of Crete I, and South of Crete II. The vessel will first survey Block A2 before moving on to South of Peloponnese, with the two blocks off Crete expected to be surveyed in the first half of 2027.
Chevron has requested an 18-month extension for its exploration phase in Block 10, which is considered the most mature of its concessions. If the data points to a target with a realistic chance of a commercial discovery, the block will be ready for drilling.
