Chevron Trains Journalists on Oil and Gas Reporting
Chevron Nigeria Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the capacity of journalists in the Niger Delta region, emphasizing the media's critical role in promoting transparency and informed public discourse in the oil and gas sector.
The company organized a media capacity-building workshop with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, in Asaba. Victor Anyaegbudike, Manager of Communications for Chevron, stated that the company 'deeply appreciates the role of the media as a trusted source of information and an important partner in promoting transparency, accountability, and informed dialogue.'
Chevron has invested significantly in Nigerian Content development, employment, local contracting, and supplier development. The company spends an annual average of over $1bn on Nigerian suppliers.
Anyaegbudike highlighted Chevron's sustainable community development initiatives, including the Global Memorandum of Understanding pioneered in 2005 and the ongoing transition to Host Community Development Trusts under the Petroleum Industry Act.
