China Confirms Boeing Aircraft Purchase Amid Ongoing Trade Talks

China has reaffirmed its commitment to buying 200 Boeing aircraft, a significant commercial element in ongoing US-China trade talks. The purchase, announced in May, marks Boeing's first major Chinese deal in nearly a decade.

According to U.S. officials, China has finalized orders for 140 aircraft and is drafting an additional 10 orders for Chinese carriers. While U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer expressed optimism about the progress made, he did not indicate that additional Boeing orders are imminent before this week's meeting between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg tempered expectations of further large-scale orders from China, suggesting instead that incremental future purchases could occur over time. He noted that the 200-aircraft commitment is only an initial tranche of what could become a much larger agreement.
