China Considers Allowing Domestic Firms to Buy Nvidia's High-End Computer Chip
The Chinese government is considering allowing domestic companies like ByteDance and Alibaba to purchase Nvidia's high-end professional computer chip, RTX PRO 5500. According to a report by The Information, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently asked these companies to report their plans to buy the chip.
Some industry executives expect the RTX PRO 5500 chip to avoid US export restrictions. However, Nvidia spokesperson declined to comment on this aspect, saying that 'US firms continue to be restricted by a combination of outdated US export controls and China's own limits on US imports.'
