Nvidia's new RTX Pro 5500 chip is being eyed by China as a potential way to skirt U.S. export curbs, according to reports.

The Chinese government has reportedly gauged purchase demand from companies including ByteDance and Alibaba, with some executives believing the product may not be included in U.S. export restrictions.

This comes after Nvidia publicly criticized U.S. export controls, stating that they are outdated and overlap with China's restrictions on imports from the United States.

The RTX Pro 5500 is a workstation card unveiled by Nvidia, featuring 84GB of GDDR7 memory and designed for rack-mounted configurations.
