Chinese Manufacturer Creates 96 GB RTX 5090 Graphics Card for AI Applications
A Chinese company, Shenzhen Suqiao Intelligent Technology, has created a modified version of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card with an impressive 96 GB of VRAM. This is three times the memory capacity of the standard gaming model and likely to be particularly interesting for AI applications.
The modification uses a specially adapted PCB that supports a clamshell configuration, allowing more memory to be connected to the existing memory interface. This design makes it possible to operate in a completely different class from the standard 32 GB version, especially for tasks requiring enormous amounts of VRAM such as large language models and image generators.
The price is striking at US$3,888, which would be an extremely aggressive price for a heavily modified Blackwell graphics card with this memory capacity. However, there are contradictory details in the product description, including a specification that lists GDDR6X memory instead of the standard GDDR7 used by the regular GeForce RTX 5090.
A healthy degree of skepticism is warranted due to these discrepancies and the need for independent tests to verify the card's functionality.
