Christian Roman to Lead Black N Animated Storyboarding Workshop
Black N Animated, an organization dedicated to supporting Black animation artists, is hosting a two-session feature animation storyboarding workshop led by Christian Roman. Roman is a veteran story artist with over three decades of experience, having worked on projects like The Simpsons, Disney Television Animation, and Pixar.
The workshop, titled Story for Feature Animation, will take place on October 4 and 11, from noon to 3 p.m. PT. It is designed for participants with basic drawing skills and will cover story structure, visual storytelling techniques, composition, and cinematography. Students will also complete a storyboard assignment, receive live critiques, and engage in a Q&A with Roman.
Roman's extensive career includes roles as a storyboard supervisor on The Simpsons and contributions to Pixar films like Toy Story 3, Cars 3, and Toy Story 4. Since leaving Pixar in 2024, he has worked with Aardman, DreamWorks, and 20th Century Animation, and is currently a senior cinematic artist at Studio MDHR.
The workshop costs $110 for Black N Animated members and $180 for non-members, with registration available through the organization's website.
