CHROs and Employees at Odds Over AI-Driven Skills
A new global study from IBM's Institute for Business Value has revealed a disconnect between the skills Chief Human Resource Officers (CHROs) believe are essential in an AI-driven workforce and those prioritized by employees.
The study, which surveyed over 1,500 CHROs and 8,800 employees globally, found that while 71% of CHROs identify the ability to supervise, validate, and override AI outputs as crucial, only 29% of employees ranked judgment as important.
Furthermore, the research showed that 60% of employees worry about skills erosion, with critical thinking cited most often as declining. In contrast, CHROs identified critical thinking (57%) and human judgment (48%) as among the workforce's most essential capabilities.
