Cink Wins Boeing Classic in Thrilling Playoff Comeback
Stewart Cink claimed his fifth win of the season and strengthened his hold on the Charles Schwab Cup points lead after defeating Miguel Angel Jimenez in a playoff at the Boeing Classic. The 53-year-old golfer birdied the first playoff hole to emerge victorious, following a rally that saw him finish 12-under-par for the event.
Cink started the day four off the pace but made up ground with a strong performance, carding a 7-under-par 65 to finish tied with Jimenez. The Spaniard took the lead when he fired an 8-under-par 28 on his back nine, only for Cink to stay in contention.
The decisive moment came when Jimenez placed his third shot into a greenside bunker on the par-5 18th hole, giving Cink the opportunity to make a close-range birdie putt and seal the win. Cink said he was proud of his performance, noting that it was 'really a good feeling' to have a strong round after struggling in the first two days.
