Cisco and Axis Bring Physical Security Closer to Enterprise IT Environments

Axis Communications has partnered with Cisco to bring physical security devices into the same management platform as IT infrastructure. This move aims to bridge the operational gap between physical and digital environments.

The integration of Axis devices into the Cisco Meraki Dashboard is made possible through Axis Cloud Connect, a cybersecurity-focused open hybrid cloud platform. This brings the intelligence and capabilities of supported devices into the Cisco cloud-managed environment, enabling organisations to leverage the Axis portfolio across various use cases.

Rudie Opperman, Manager for Engineering & Training MEA at Axis Communications, explains that introducing cloud-based management does not mean organisations need to replace their existing physical security infrastructure. A hybrid-cloud approach allows them to maintain supported existing devices while introducing cloud management where it adds value, balancing their existing investments with the operational benefits of the cloud.

By combining the Axis portfolio with the capabilities of Cisco Cloud Control, organisations can move towards a more unified operating model for technology. Opperman concludes that 'connectivity defines the future of physical security' and brings businesses closer to IT, enabling them to build out and manage their infrastructure more easily and efficiently.
