Kenya is deepening its partnership with Cisco to boost digital and AI skills for young people, develop the Moran AI Center of Excellence, enhance cybersecurity, and promote responsible technology. The discussions, led by President William Samoei Ruto and Ambassador Philip Thigo, Kenya's Special Envoy on Technology, aim to strengthen cooperation around emerging technologies.

The partnership focuses on the Moran AI Center of Excellence, a regional hub for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and responsible technology being developed with the Kenya Defence Forces and the Ministry of Defence. This initiative is part of Kenya's efforts to build local AI capabilities and promote responsible technology development.

Cisco's growing engagement with Kenyan public institutions was also discussed during the meeting. The partnership comes amid Kenya's wider efforts to strengthen its digital transformation, including a recent formalised partnership with Anthropic focused on AI skills and capacity building.
