Cisco Dives 6% Amid Sector-Wide Stability
Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) stock dropped by 6% to $104.94 on Tuesday, while its peers Arista Networks (NASDAQ:ANET) and Ciena (NASDAQ:CIEN) remained relatively stable.
The decline is seen as single-name selling rather than a sector-wide selloff in the tech industry, according to recent market analysis.
Arista and Ciena are key players in the AI networking space, but they did not experience the same level of decline as Cisco. The Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEARCA:XLK) and Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:QQQ) also rose on Tuesday, indicating that the decline is specific to Cisco.
Cisco's 38% year-to-date gain may have contributed to the profit-taking, with some analysts expecting a reevaluation of the company's stock price. Piper Sandler maintained its Hold rating on Cisco and trimmed its price target to $125 in a recent note.
