Cisco Expands AI Infrastructure with On-Premises POD for Enterprise Clients
Cisco Systems CSCO, a networking and cybersecurity heavyweight, has strengthened its AI infrastructure strategy by pushing Splunk AI deeper into tightly controlled enterprise environments. The company's new AI POD, built for on-premises, private-cloud, and air-gapped deployments, brings together Cisco infrastructure, Nvidia accelerated computing, and Kubernetes-based software to run AI workloads without sending sensitive information outside the organization's own environment.
The validated setup allows enterprises to host selected models from Google, OpenAI, and Cisco, with Nvidia models expected to follow. This could make Cisco's stack more relevant to organizations where security and data sovereignty remain non-negotiable.
Splunk is also adding Tokenomics, a capability designed to track token spending across AI agents and coding tools while estimating future consumption. This gives Cisco two possible monetization paths: selling the infrastructure that powers enterprise AI and the security and observability layer that keeps those systems under control.
