Cisco Scores Big Deal with Notre Dame, Deploys Over 1,000 Network Switches

Cisco Systems, the networking and security company, announced a multi-year deal to upgrade Notre Dame's campus network. As part of this partnership, nearly 1,000 Catalyst 9300X switches will be deployed across the South Bend campus.

The university is preparing its network for increased demands from research and AI applications, as well as more connected devices. Cisco says its Catalyst Center will manage configuration, ThousandEyes will help monitor network performance, and its Professional Services team will provide support throughout the partnership.

This equipment rollout includes not only the switches but also software, monitoring tools, and services that can keep Cisco involved after installation. The appeal for investors is the comprehensive package around the switches, which may lead to continued involvement from Cisco in the campus network.
