Cisco Secures AI Infrastructure Deal with Bell Canada
Cisco Systems (CSCO) has secured a contract to provide sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Canada, expanding its reach in the country. The agreement with Bell Canada will utilize Cisco's AI, networking, security, and infrastructure technologies to develop sovereign AI infrastructure across Canada.
The partnership between Bell and Cisco aims to help Canadian organizations deploy, secure, and manage AI infrastructure in Canada, providing customers with more flexibility in accessing and scaling sovereign AI capabilities. A dollar amount for the deal has not been publicly disclosed.
Bell Canada's growing AI ambitions are reflected in its recent announcements, including a partnership with Cohere to operate large language models through the 'Bell AI Fabric' unit and plans to quadruple the size of its data center project in Saskatchewan. The province is home to a 1.2-gigawatt power capacity data center project.
