Cisco Secures Multiyear Deal with Notre Dame Amid Muted Market Reaction
Cisco Systems has secured a multiyear contract to revamp the network infrastructure at the University of Notre Dame's athletics venues and broader campus. The deal will involve the installation of nearly 1,000 Catalyst 9300X switches, along with Cisco's Catalyst Center management platform, ThousandEyes monitoring service, and engineering support from Cisco Professional Services.
The agreement is valued at an undisclosed amount, which has contributed to a muted market reaction. Despite being one of the largest deals in recent history for Cisco, investors seem unimpressed, as evidenced by the company's stock price hovering around $105.81, a 0.6% drop from its opening value.
Cisco's strategy behind this deal is centered on creating a deeply integrated network that makes it costly for customers to switch vendors in the future. By selling switches, management software, monitoring tools, and professional services together, Cisco aims to establish itself as a long-term partner for universities like Notre Dame.
