Cisco Teams Up with Golf Governing Body to Create AI-Ready Infrastructure
Cisco Systems Inc. has announced a multiyear partnership with The R&A, a worldwide golf governing body, to modernize their infrastructure and create an AI-ready network architecture.
The partnership designates Cisco as The R&A's official network supplier for The Open, the AIG Women's Open, and other key championships, as well as for The R&A's new global headquarters in St Andrews.
Cisco's Field chief technology officer, Ed Green, described the championship golf venue as a 'shoal of fish' effect, where the network must absorb sudden spikes in usage due to crowds clustering around popular holes.
The partnership aims to standardize on a single, secure, AI-ready platform across front-of-house fan experiences and back-office operations, providing lessons that translate directly beyond sports.
