Cisco Teams Up with Supermicro on Liquid-Cooled Servers for AI

Cisco Systems has expanded its AI infrastructure portfolio by partnering with Supermicro to offer their liquid- and air-cooled servers. The partnership will bring high-density Supermicro compute solutions into Cisco's Secure AI Factory with Nvidia architecture, allowing customers to easily manage complex, high-density AI clusters alongside non-AI workloads.

The Secure AI Factory with Nvidia incorporates a wide range of products, including Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) servers powered by Nvidia GPUs and Blackwell Servers. With the Supermicro expansion, customers will gain access to its rack-scale and dense GPU systems, which can be validated and sold as part of the broader Cisco AI infrastructure portfolio.

The partnership also enables liquid cooling options for high-throughput inference use cases with platforms including Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 and Nvidia HGX Rubin NVL8. This removes thermal and power constraints that previously kept trillion-parameter training out of reach for all but hyperscalers, according to Cisco.
