Ciscomani and Mendoza Agree to Debate in Toss-Up Congressional District

Republican Congressman Juan Ciscomani and Democratic challenger JoAnna Mendoza have agreed to participate in a live debate on September 10, as reported by Arizona Clean Elections. The debate will be held at 6 p.m. and streamed live on the AZ Clean Elections YouTube channel and Tucson.com. Arizona's Congressional District 6 is considered a toss-up, with voter registration leaning slightly Republican but also having a significant number of Democrats and Independents.

According to Federal Election Commission data, Mendoza's campaign has raised about $1.1 million more than Ciscomani's. The debate will not release topics or questions ahead of time, but voters can submit their own questions through the AZ Clean Elections website or by emailing debates@azcleanelections.gov.

Ciscomani's ads have focused on identity politics issues, including a comment made by Mendoza during a 2020 Arizona State Senate debate. Meanwhile, Mendoza has criticized Ciscomani for his support of Trump Administration's cuts to Medicaid and Medicare.
