Claas Expands Omaha Headquarters Amid Growing Demand for Combine Harvesters
Claas, a German combine manufacturer, has been operating in Nebraska for over two decades. The company's Omaha headquarters is home to a research and development center, as well as a customer experience center. This year, Claas is showcasing its investment in the state with a new expansion at its headquarters.
The addition includes a new customer experience center and a research and development center, which will be unveiled on October 8th. The research and development center will focus on tailoring equipment to handle the needs of American agriculture, specifically corn and soybeans. This is in contrast to Europe and Canada, where there is a significant focus on cereal grains.
Claas has been operating in Nebraska since it built a combine factory in Omaha in the early 2000s. Although Caterpillar left the agriculture market, Claas continued serving customers by investing in its Omaha plant. Today, all Lexion combines for North America are built at this facility, employing nearly 100 people on the manufacturing side and about 60 at the headquarters.
Claas has also established itself as a good ambassador for the industry, partnering with Metro Community College to offer an apprenticeship accredited by the U.S. Department of Labor. The company hopes to continue cultivating innovation in Omaha and creating opportunities for Nebraskans.
