Claude AI now works within Google Workspace apps
Anthropic has announced that its AI model, Claude, is now integrated with Google Workspace as an add-on. The update allows Claude to assist users directly within Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. In Docs, Claude can make in-place edits, such as fixing sentences or restyling headings without altering surrounding formatting. For more substantial rewrites, it can propose edits through suggestion cards in the sidebar, letting users apply or dismiss changes easily.
In Google Sheets, Claude can write formulas, build pivot tables, and generate charts. It can also handle data cleaning by pulling ranges into Python and writing results back into the sheet. Users can request specific reports, like a Q3 budget vs. actuals breakdown, and Claude will generate them with flags for budget overruns.
For Google Slides, Claude can create new slides that match the deck’s layouts and themes, checking for overlapping elements or unreadable text. The integration is currently in beta and available on all paid plans, accessible via the Google Workspace Marketplace.
