Cleaning Up Bookmarks: A Simple Trick for a Tidier Bar
Tony Phillips, an experienced Microsoft Office user and document producer, had accumulated hundreds of bookmarks over the years. He decided to clean up his bookmarks by deleting most of them, which he found surprisingly freeing.
Phillips started by removing old links that were no longer useful or duplicates of websites he already had saved. This made it easier for him to manage his remaining bookmarks and see what was worth keeping.
He then applied a simple trick to reduce clutter: removing text labels from most-used websites, leaving only their distinctive favicons. This freed up space on the bookmark bar and made it easier to identify icons that were not immediately recognizable.
Phillips also organized his bookmarks into folders based on purpose rather than trying to categorize every link. He kept frequently used sites on his bookmark bar and grouped similar websites in folders, such as a 'Work' folder for tools and resources he uses while working.
