Clippy Coin Promoter Hijacks Microsoft's X Account
Microsoft has confirmed that its official X account was compromised after an unauthorized user accessed it to promote a meme coin themed around Clippy, the former Office assistant.
The incident occurred when the account followed and reposted content from another account promoting the token and changed its profile image to show Clippy.
A post on the account that was later deleted stated that Microsoft had not authorized the use of its intellectual property to promote a token and emphasized that the token was unrelated to Microsoft stock, with no ownership stake for holders in the company.
The unauthorized posts were removed, and the account has been secured. However, details about how the access occurred remain unclear.
