Cloudbreak and Google ink solar deal for Boulder campus
Cloudbreak Energy has secured a solar power agreement with Google to supply renewable electricity to the tech giant’s Boulder, Colorado, campus. The deal, part of Xcel Energy’s Off-Site Net Metering (OS-NM) program, underscores Google’s commitment to sourcing clean energy for its operations. Cloudbreak, a developer of solar and storage projects with a portfolio exceeding 750 MW, aims to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector through this partnership.
Google, a global leader in corporate clean energy procurement, has maintained a presence in Boulder for two decades. The collaboration highlights the growing trend of tech companies investing in local renewable solutions to meet their energy demands sustainably. Cloudbreak’s project is designed to align with Google’s operational needs and the local grid’s capabilities.
Becca Gallery, Managing Partner at Cloudbreak Energy, emphasized the significance of the project, noting that it allows large power consumers to balance scale and locality. The initiative reflects a broader shift in the solar industry toward strategic business collaborations that drive long-term value for communities and stakeholders.
The partnership marks another milestone in Google’s efforts to power its facilities with renewable energy, reinforcing its role in advancing the clean energy transition.
