Cloudflare Beats Google DNS in Privacy and Flexibility

Pankil, a freelance writer and Civil Engineer from Ahmedabad, India, recently compared Google's 8.8.8.8 DNS server to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 in terms of speed, privacy, and features.

Speed tests showed that Google's 8.8.8.8 was faster than Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 by an average of just 0.3ms, a difference Pankil notes is unlikely to be noticeable during browsing.

However, in the realm of privacy, Cloudflare outperforms Google. Cloudflare deletes DNS query data within 24 hours and does not use this information for advertising, whereas Google retains some data for up to 48 hours.

Cloudflare also offers alternate resolvers with specific features such as automatic blocking of malware domains or adult content, giving users more control over their browsing experience. In contrast, Google's standard DNS resolver lacks these advanced filtering options.
