Coastal Communities Take Charge of Ocean Conservation with Data
Cisco's Voices from the Field series highlights how data strengthens livelihoods in coastal communities. In celebration of World Ocean Day, Kamryn Harty spoke to London-based nonprofit Blue Ventures about their approach to marine conservation.
Blue Ventures focuses on empowering people to take charge in ensuring that conservation efforts are achieved. The nonprofit's community-centered approach drew Breanna Mossiah-Conorquie, Belize Country Director, to work for the organization for 5.5 years.
'At the end of the day, any decision we make that supports conservation efforts also affects people,' says Breanna. 'Conservation efforts exist because people exist.'
