Coca-Cola Affiliate Marks 75 Years in Nigeria with Billion-Dollar Investment Pledge
Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd celebrated its 75th anniversary in Nigeria with a gala event at the Conference Centre, Abuja. The company is a member of the Coca-Cola HBC Group.
Anastassis G. David, Chairman of Coca-Cola HBC, reflected on the company's origin in 1951 when Anastasios Leventis negotiated the rights for the whole of Nigeria. He stated that it was a big and bold decision but also a statement of belief in Nigeria's exceptional importance, scale, and prospect.
The event also featured speeches from Sola David-Borha, Chairperson of NBC Board, Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Goran Sladic, Managing Director, NBC, Zoran Bogdanovic, Chief Executive Officer of Coca-Cola HBC, and Henrique Braun, CEO of The Coca-Cola Company.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to Nigeria with a plan to invest up to $1 billion over five years. They also announced a $1.25 million commitment by the Coca Cola HBC Foundation to support young Nigerian entrepreneurs in the hospitality and food service sector.
