Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive Shuffle Leadership in Response to Shifting Consumer Trends
Coca-Cola and Colgate-Palmolive are making leadership changes to navigate shifting consumer priorities and price sensitivity.
Coca-Cola announced that Roberto Mercadé will transition to chief customer and commercial officer on November 1, while Pamela Stewart takes over his previous role overseeing The McDonald's division. Mercadé has a long history with Coca-Cola, having joined the company in 1992 and progressing through various leadership roles.
Colgate-Palmolive also made changes, appointing Mike Pierson as EVP of customer development for the US market. Pierson brings over two decades of experience from companies like PepsiCo, The Campbell's Co., and Hello Delicious! Brands.
The new leaders will need to work closely with retail partners to create interest and maintain category momentum using data-driven and tech-enabled practices. Coca-Cola is relying on its RGM capabilities to provide affordability options for low-income consumers while driving premiumization through mini-can multipacks and high-margin packaging.
