Coca-Cola Consolidated Strike Enters Second Week Amid Wage Disputes
Coca-Cola Consolidated is facing a strike by unionized workers in Indiana, who are demanding better wages and working conditions. Around 50 drivers and merchandisers have walked off the job after the company refused to bargain in good faith, according to a press release from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
The strike has disrupted distribution throughout the state, with other locations including Akron, Twinsburg, and Toledo refusing to cross the picket line. Local 377 in Youngstown is standing in solidarity with Local 135, the Indianapolis-based union behind the strike, saying 'it's not our strike... but we are honoring their picket line.'
'Management needs to stop their games and get people back to work,' said Dustin Roach, president of Local 135. Steven Anzevino, president of Youngstown's Local 377, added that the strike could last anywhere from a day to a month.
