Coca-Cola Outshines Altria Group for Dividend Investors
Coca-Cola's stock offers better dividend growth prospects than Altria Group's, according to some investors. Both companies are considered Dividend Kings, having raised dividends annually for decades.
Altria Group's revenue has been uninspiring due to lower demand for its core products, such as cigarettes and cigars. Its revenue growth of 3.1% year-over-year in the first half is not impressive when considering that it came from price increases offsetting volume declines.
Coca-Cola, on the other hand, has rebounded with sales volume increasing lately. The company's second-quarter revenue grew 5%, with higher volumes adding 4 percentage points and price/mix contributing 2 percentage points.
