Coca-Cola Taps Monster Energy Exec Rob Gehring to Lead North America Unit
Coca-Cola's North America unit has a new leader: Rob Gehring, who is coming over from Monster Energy. He will take on this role on December 1, replacing an unspecified current head of the unit. Gehring currently serves as Americas chief at Monster Beverage and has held various leadership positions in the beverage industry, including serving as CEO of Swire Coca-Cola USA, a major bottling partner for Coca-Cola in the western United States.
Coca-Cola's move to bring in Gehring comes during a challenging period for many consumer brands due to rising gas and grocery prices. However, despite these economic pressures, the company has reported impressive financial results, including a 7% growth in net sales during the second quarter and a 3% increase in volume in North America.
The beverage industry is shifting towards varied consumer preferences, with Coca-Cola diversifying its offerings beyond traditional sodas. The company aims to adapt and thrive in this changing market by introducing new products in categories like refreshers and so-called 'dirty sodas.'
