Coca-Cola's FIFA World Cup Initiative Empowers Thousands of Young People
The Coca-Cola Company turned the FIFA World Cup into a platform for career exploration and workforce development through its Future Careers Academy initiative.
The program aimed to create long-term impact in communities hosting the tournament, with goals including creating jobs, supporting new businesses, and inspiring the next generation. To achieve this, the company developed two complementary initiatives focused on economic prosperity and youth development.
Coca-Cola built a free online learning platform that was accessible regardless of location, in collaboration with nonprofit organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Special Olympics. The initiative ensured that underserved communities across the United States could benefit from the opportunities created around the tournament.
The platform featured five industry-developed learning modules covering Marketing, Communications, Creative Design, Operations, and Leadership. Participants earned a digital badge after completing each module and received a professional certificate upon finishing all five courses, providing a credential they could add to their résumés.
