On July 20, Coca-Cola unveiled new designs for its products internationally, with the most noticeable change being the redesign of Coke Zero. The new look closely resembles the classic Coca-Cola can, replacing the familiar red and black design with one that is almost identical to the regular version. This change has caused confusion among flight attendants and consumers, as the similarity between the two products has led to frequent mix-ups.

Ava, a flight attendant from Melbourne, shared her experience in a viral TikTok video. She highlighted how the new design has made it difficult to distinguish between regular Coca-Cola and Coke Zero, resulting in numerous incorrect servings. ‘Lost count of how many wrong Cokes I’ve handed out this week,’ she noted in the caption.

The redesign has also raised concerns among consumers with allergies or medical conditions. Comments on Ava’s video revealed that the new look could be dangerous for those who rely on the distinct black lettering to identify Coke Zero. Some viewers even vowed to switch to Pepsi due to the confusion. Others shared similar experiences, emphasizing the difficulty in quickly identifying the zero-sugar version.

Coca-Cola defended the redesign in a press release, stating that the change was aimed at creating a seamless visual identity across its products. The new designs are currently available in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Despite the company’s explanation, the feedback from consumers and flight attendants suggests that the redesign may have unintended consequences.
