Coinbase Brings Traditional Stocks onto Blockchain with Tokenized Offerings
Coinbase has taken another major step to expand its services beyond crypto by bringing traditional stocks onto the blockchain.
The exchange has introduced four 1:1 backed US tokenized stock tokens to the Ethereum L2 network, allowing eligible non-US customers to access Apple, NVIDIA, Meta, and Alphabet with 24/7 trading on Base.
The tokenized stock products are available on Coinbase's platform, and each token is linked to an actual share held in custody through a separate structure approved by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) in August 2026.
This means that investors aren't simply buying a digital token, but rather a beneficial interest in one underlying Eyshare, providing a clear link between each token and the stock it represents.
